I watched this video and couldn't help myself. Besides being about Dim Sum, a culinary tradition a grew up with, this video was spoken in Cantonese, one of my first 'mother' tongue (yes, the one that you hear and bring warmth to your heart when you're away from home and don't hear it often anymore.) The video already had a translation to English but I had the privilege of translating it to Spanish. I can't explain in words how 'cozy' it felt watching and translating this video. I visited Hong Kong when I was too young to remember, but it's definitely one of those destinations always in the back of my head... I know I'll visit it again one day. Vi este video y no me pude resistir. Es sobre el dim sum, una tradición culinaria con la que crecí, pero además está hablada en cantonés, uno de mis primeras lenguas 'maternas' (esa que al escucharla te trae calidez al corazón sobre todo cuando estás lejos y ya no la escuchas a diario.) El video ya tenía traducción al inglés pero tuve el privilegio de traducirlo al español. Es difícil explicar con palabras lo reconfortante que fue la experiencia de ver y trabajar con la traducción este video. Una vez visité Hong Kong pero estaba muy pequeña y ya casi no recuerdo nada, aunque es definitivamente uno de esos sitios en los que siempre pienso... sé que la visitaré de nuevo algún día. Por ahora, te invito a que veas este video y conozcas más sobre la cultura del dim sum.
