Laurie David: Dinner makes a difference / La cena hace la diferencia (TEDxManhattan, 2011)

Working with this talk really touched me and brought me fond memories of my childhood. Before I left my parents' house to go to university, I don't recall us not having lunch or at least dinner together as a family. Those were the times to share the events of the day from school or from work, talk about the latest news, discuss important family decisions and many more. Now that I have my own family (my husband) and I live in a new my adoptive country, sitting down at the table to have a meal at least once a day, away from our computers, phones, TV and busy lives, it's a blessed time. We might not always have a lot of important things to discuss, but just the company and being in the moment to enjoy our food and each other is what reminds me daily that, no matter how hectic or difficult life might be at that moment, there's always time for family.

About this talk: Producer of Al Gore's "An Inconvenient Truth," Laurie David has authored best-selling books, executive produced television specials & documentaries and has been called the Bono of climate change by Vanity Fair. Now she's bringing it all home to her kitchen table."

Can cooking change the world? (TED Talks, 2018)

I recently talked about a documentary film, "Peru knows: Cooking as a Social Weapon of Change", that illustrates the work that Peruvian chefs are doing by coming together and working toward the common goal of promoting Peruvian cuisine around the world. So, I was thrilled to have the opportunity to translate this TED talk by one of the chef that was part of this movement.
